Kat Gerdts
Administrative Coordinator
kat.gerdts@kanedupageswcd.org
She's from up North, but now she is a Kane County resident! Kat Gerdts joined the KDSWCD team as Administrative Coordinator in 2023. With a variety of management experience, most recently at a land trust, Kat is excited to "build things" with the District.
A passionate advocate of sustainability, Kat wants to be sure she makes a positive impact on the planet - her two sons live here after all! At home, Kat is busy tending to a mid-century modern home with a newly installed native plant garden, while her German shepherd / black lab "helps" by digging holes.

Isabella Borzeka
Senior Resource Analyst
isabella .borzeka@kanedupageswcd.org
After moving to the Western Suburbs from the Southwestern Suburbs, Isabella has enjoyed taking advantage of everything that this area of Chicagoland has to offer, particularly the many bike trails that extend for miles. Her education at Lewis University, where she received a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, provided her with the opportunity to appreciate the importance of soil and water preservation in both sectors by working with local communities to test samples to determine their overall health. The passion she has for preserving natural resources in ecosystems has extended over to the KDSWCD, where she hopes to find new solutions that could be beneficial to plants, animals, humans, and the environment at large.

She is always looking for ways to reduce her carbon footprint and takes great delight in finding reusable products that replace single-use products. In her free time, Isabella enjoys reading, running, watching movies, spending time with her family and friends, and cuddling with her dog Lola.

Emma intends to explore her interests in watershed protection and public outreach at KDSWCD while learning as much as she can about soil science. In her free time, she loves to discover new coffee places and walking trails. She hopes to continue her passion for pottery by finding a local ceramics place!
